Chenlei Wang

Education:

MS, University of Southern California, Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism

BFA, New York University, Tisch School of Arts

Chenlei Wang is an artist who sees the world through a lens trained to notice what most people walk past. Her foundation is visual and emotional, built through years of photography and CG animation at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she developed a rigorous eye for human emotion, composition, and the kind of storytelling that makes people feel something before they have fully processed what they are looking at.Her work has always been driven by a deeper impulse. She notices what needs to be said, the overlooked detail, the unspoken tension, the experience that deserves more attention than it is getting. Much of what compels her involves the lives of women. That thread runs through her photography, her CG animation pieces confronting the societal constraints placed on women, and the safety app she designed to give women more practical control over their experience in public and private spaces. She is currently completing her M.S. in Digital Social Media at USC Annenberg, where she continues to explore how art and storytelling move through digital spaces and shape the way audiences feel. She is based in Los Angeles and is fully bilingual in English and Mandarin.
